Rock County, WI – Deputies in Rock County had a busy month on the roads, pulling over nearly 500 drivers in a recent stretch of traffic enforcement, according to a post from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
While most stops were routine, officers say the enforcement led to 17 arrests for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and the seizure of 4 firearms, highlighting both the dangers and successes of proactive policing.
Sheriff’s officials note that the stops ranged from traffic violations to more serious criminal concerns. “Our deputies work hard to keep Rock County roads safe,” the office said in the post, “and these numbers reflect both routine enforcement and officers’ vigilance in identifying potential threats.”
Even with nearly 500 traffic stops, the number of OWI arrests and firearm recoveries shows that serious offenses remain relatively rare compared to the volume of drivers on the road. Still, each arrest represents a situation where deputies removed a potential threat from the streets.
The Sheriff's Office encourages residents to continue practicing safe driving and to report suspicious behavior. “Public cooperation is critical,” the post said, “and we appreciate community members who help us maintain safety.”
This monthly enforcement report offers a glimpse into local law enforcement activity and shows how deputies balance routine traffic safety with spotting and intervening in more serious situations.
