TOWN OF ROCK – A tense scene unfolded Tuesday evening, September 16, when a domestic dispute escalated into an hours-long standoff at the Rockvale Mobile Home Park.

According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called after a fight between roommates turned violent. When officers arrived, a 28-year-old Janesville man refused to come out of the home. Negotiators worked for several hours while Rock County SWAT and Beloit SWAT teams surrounded the residence.

During the standoff, officials say the suspect threatened law enforcement. Fire and EMS crews staged nearby in case of injury, but no one was hurt. After lengthy negotiations, the man surrendered without further incident.

The suspect is facing multiple charges, including substantial battery (domestic violence enhancer), disorderly conduct (domestic violence enhancer), failure to comply with law enforcement, and threats to law enforcement. He was taken to the Rock County Jail. Court dates are pending.

Neighbors were advised to stay indoors while law enforcement secured the area. “You never think something like this will happen right down the street,” one resident said.

Domestic violence advocates remind residents that help is available 24/7 through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or by dialing 988 in emergencies.
