A dramatic scene unfolded at a Palm Coast liquor store recently, when a 38-year-old man from New York allegedly sparked a violent outburst—one that would lead to multiple felony charges. Here’s what happened:

The Incident

Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 2 p.m. Wednesday to Sharps Discount Liquors in Palm Coast after reports of a disturbance. The man, later identified as Jeffrey Kimmel, had initially bought four liquor shots but returned for more. When the clerk denied him, things quickly escalated.

Eyewitnesses reported Kimmel screamed at the clerk, leapt onto the counter, and started knocking merchandise off the shelves. Fearing for their safety, the clerk and customers locked themselves in a back room.

Escalation and Arrest

Deputies arrived to find Kimmel still atop the counter, reportedly armed with a large knife. They removed him from the store and escorted him outside. But the turmoil didn’t end there.

Outside, Kimmel became combative—kicking, screaming, and even spitting blood at deputies. To protect themselves from the biological hazard, officers placed a spit mask over his head.

Charges and Bond

Kimmel now faces an array of charges. These include:

  • Misdemeanor breach of peace

  • Felony counts of burglary and burglary with assault or battery

  • Eight counts of battery on a law enforcement officer

  • Resisting an officer with violence

  • Criminal mischief exceeding $1,000

He’s currently being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a $236,000 bond.
